SeaWorld and Busch Gardens theme parks are debuting several new experiences this Halloween as part of the Howl-O-Scream event’s 25th anniversary.
From alien invasions in San Diego to singing sirens in Orlando, Howl-O-Scream experiences offer haunted houses, scare zones and live shows.
SeaWorld Orlando’s Howl-O-Scream kicked off on 6 September and runs through 2 November. New attractions for this year include the ‘Farm 51’ and ‘Atlantis: Journey Below’ haunted houses. The former is an alien-themed experience, and the latter features sinister sea creatures.
Busch Gardens Tampa Bay’s Halloween event also started on 6 September and runs through 2 November. New haunted houses include ‘Shadows of Wonderland’, a place where familiar characters are now out for revenge.
Busch Gardens Williamsburg’s Howl-O-Scream opened on 6 September and closes on 3 November. New experiences include ‘Clown Town’, described as a twisted circus ruled by vengeful clowns, and ‘Monster Manor’, a haunted house where grotesque experiments take place.
SeaWorld San Antonio’s event begins tomorrow (13 September) and runs through 27 October. New attractions for 2024 include the ‘Till Death Do Us Party’ show.
25 years of Howl-O-Scream
Finally, SeaWorld San Diego’s Howl-O-Scream begins on 21 September and is open until 2 November. New at this park is the ‘Monster Stomp’ show, which brings Jack the Ripper to life in a high-energy performance.
Eerie events and Halloween celebrations are growing in popularity, with visitor attractions seeking to boost sales through expanded and branded experiences.
“It’s become this time of the year that’s grown in explosive ways,” Edithann Ramey, Six Flags’ chief marketing officer, told Reuters. “It’s become a billion-dollar industry in the last five years.”
