Six Flags Magic Mountain already boasts 20 roller coasters

Los Angeles County’s planning department has approved a construction permit for a new roller coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain.

Set to debut at the California theme park in 2026, the new coaster is set to be a first-of-its-kind thrill ride for North America.

The ride is part of Six Flags Entertainment Corporation’s plans to invest more than $1 billion over the next two years across its network of 42 theme parks.

Coaster construction permit approved

The permit, with the project name 90011, allows for grading for the new coaster, as well as new retaining walls, a station, and a mechanical building at Six Flags Magic Mountain.

Six Flags Magic Mountain is a 260-acre theme park with 20 coasters – more than any other theme park in the world. Its most recent coaster, Wonder Woman Flight of Courage, arrived at the park in summer 2022. It is the world’s tallest and longest single-rail coaster.

As for Six Flags’ $1bn investment, the company will spend the money on new rides, attractions, themed areas, F&B upgrades, and infrastructure and technology enhancements.

Six Flags president and CEO Richard Zimmerman said: “Our capital investment plans for the next two years reinforce our commitment to providing unmatched thrills, immersive entertainment and lifelong memories to guests of all ages.

“The new Six Flags has a unique opportunity to refresh and renew the guest experience, one so compelling that a visit to one of our parks will be viewed as an indispensable choice in family entertainment.”

Six Flags will release more information on the new Magic Mountain coaster in summer 2025.
