Interactive rescue-themed zone opens on 8 March

SeaWorld San Antonio in Texas is preparing to launch Rescue Jr., a new family-friendly zone themed to SeaWorld’s animal rescue efforts.

The interactive adventure zone opens on 8 March with the new ‘Beach Rescue Racer’ roller coaster, as well as new rides and attractions.

“Rescue Jr. is an exciting new chapter in SeaWorld’s commitment to inspiring the next generation of animal advocates,” said Byron Surrett, SeaWorld chief parks operations officer.

“This immersive play area brings our rescue efforts to life in a fun and educational way and celebrates the important work our zoological team does to protect and care for marine life.”

Here’s what Rescue Jr. contains:

  • Beach Rescue Racer: a new 1,000-foot roller coaster with cars shaped like beach jeeps, with riders feeling like they are rushing to the rescue of animals in need.
  • Ocean Quest Express: a thrilling train ride inspired by sea rescue.
  • Tide Pool Tumble and Seabird Swing: a seaside-themed ride and giant swing respectively.
  • Ocean Rescue Carousel: a rescue-themed carousel.

Jeff Davis, park president of SeaWorld San Antonio, said last year:

“We know that Rescue Jr., along with all of our animal habitats and presentations, will ignite a passion in young hearts, inspiring them to become future animal rescuers, scientists, veterinarians or conservationists.”

SeaWorld San Diego also offers a Rescue Jr. area. This features rides, aquatic attractions and climbing structures.

In more SeaWorld news, SeaWorld San Diego is set to open its new jellyfish experience on 15 March.

Also, United Parks & Resorts has revealed it will introduce “globally recognized IP” to SeaWorld and Busch Gardens theme parks, but its hotel plans are delayed.
