Walt Disney World has teased the new Tropical Americas land at Animal Kingdom and released a timetable for closures at DinoLand USA.
As announced at last year’s D23, Dinoland USA will close to make way for Tropical Americas, an 11-acre land “with a long, rich history”, via a Disney blog post.
Disney has confirmed that construction on the land, also known as Pueblo Esperanza, is currently ongoing, with Tropical Americas opening in 2027.

“With Tropical Americas, we’re bringing huge projects to life for generations of fans,” said Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney’s theme parks and experiences division, at D23.
“This is the type of signature storytelling that our Disney Imagineers have been creating for 70 years.”
As we already know, the new land will house an Indiana Jones attraction, which takes place inside a mysterious Maya temple.
New Indiana Jones, Encanto attractions
The ride will be “unlike any Indy experience you’ve ever seen before”, Disney said.
Also, Tropical Americas will include the first ride-through Encanto attraction at a Disney park.
Disney has now revealed that the land will include a hacienda, which will be one of the largest quick-service restaurants at Walt Disney World.
It will also have a large fountain in the centre, while a local woodcarver has created a giant working carousel featuring his favourite Disney animals.

“It’s a new take on a classic attraction that young families are going to love,” Disney said in the blog post.
As for DinoLand, parts of the area are still operating, including the Dinosaur ride, the Boneyard playground, and Restaurantosaurus. These will all close in 2026.
For construction, the first wave of closures started in January, when TriceraTop Spin, the Fossil Fun Games, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures were shut down.
