ProSlide Technology Inc., an industry leader in water ride manufacturing and design, will unveil a new iteration of its acclaimed LIM technology at Chimelong Water Park in Guangzhou, China, when the attraction’s expansion opens later this spring.
In 2017, ProSlide’s HydroMAGNETIC LIM Rocket, Krakatau, was launched at Volcano Bay in Orlando, Florida and became the most talked-about attraction in the world’s most competitive water park market. Eight years later, LIM technology is making its long-awaited return.
The next evolution of the world’s leading water ride technology is at Chimelong, the most attended water park on the planet. As Chimelong prepares for its opening, the park is setting the stage with two world-first ride complexes that promise to reshape global expectations once again.

Bigger and smarter by design
Chimelong is known for setting benchmarks in the global water park industry, and its expansion will include the HIVE 35, ProSlide’s newest family tower complex, and the world’s first launched HydroMAGNETIC LIM water coaster, a ProSlide innovation that brings LIM water coasters back to centre stage.
This is no ordinary expansion. It’s an iconic, smart tower design – the tallest family complex ProSlide has ever built, engineered for guest experience, operational efficiency, and maximum capacity. In contrast to the “bigger is better” trend seen in some global projects, Chimelong’s expansion is bigger and smarter by design.
The HydroMAGNETIC LIM water coaster is ProSlide’s first LIM installation since 2017 and the first LIM Mammoth since 2015. The return comes with significant advancements. With its fastest launch technology, heaviest payload, highest capacity, and energy-efficient design, LIM is set to be the centerpiece of the water park experience.
“What makes LIM technology so compelling is its blend of performance and magic,” says Ray Smegal, ProSlide’s chief commercial officer. “Guests feel it the moment they launch. Operators see it in efficiency and throughput. Owners experience it in ROI and guest satisfaction.
“It’s no coincidence that Krakatau remains the highest-rated and most popular ride at Volcano Bay. Now, Chimelong is ready to launch its own LIM legend.”
Global growth
In a time when water park developments are reaching an unprecedented scale, Chimelong stands out for innovation with intent. ProSlide’s team has worked hand-in-hand with Chimelong to design, build, and deliver this mega-project in just eight months, reflecting expertise and commitment to the Chinese market and the water park industry as a whole.
Chimelong’s expansion is a global signal that water ride innovation is entering a new era driven by smarter design, powerful technology, and strategic partnerships.
Recently, ProSlide celebrated the launch of OKANA Resort & Indoor Waterpark in Oklahoma City, US. The destination features an indoor water park, which spans 100,000 square feet and is designed for fun in all seasons.
