Rixen Cableway to power wakeboarding at World Games 2025 in Chengdu

News
Rixen Cableway World Games 2025

Rixen Cableway, a global pioneer in the design and manufacture of cable water ski and wakeboard systems, has announced that it is the chosen supplier of the cable system for wakeboarding at the 12th edition of the World Games, scheduled to take place from 7 – 17 August 2025 in Chengdu, China.

With excitement for the event building, the firm says it is looking forward to bringing its reliable technology to the global stage.

Rixen has supported 59 national and international wakeboarding events so far. Its systems are recognised as an industry gold standard—dependable, accurate, and trusted by both athletes and organisers.

Providing a competition-grade system

Rixen’s advanced cableway systems are designed for precision and durability, allowing wakeboarders to enjoy smooth, reliable rides and push their skills to the next level. These systems feature adjustable speeds and modular designs, allowing customisation for top-level competitions and flexibility for various waterfronts.

In Chengdu, the cable park will not only enhance the wakeboarding event but also create a lasting impact. It will turn a local lake into a permanent recreational centre, drawing visitors, supporting nearby businesses, and inspiring future wakeboarders in China’s lively southwest.

The World Games will enhance Chengdu’s image as a host for international events, with the wakeboarding cable park driving local development. Revitalising waterfront areas, the park will create jobs, attract tourists to nearby attractions, and foster community initiatives like youth clinics and festivals that promote civic pride and active lifestyles.

“We’re excited to support an event that celebrates non-Olympic sports, blending international flair with Chengdu’s cultural vibrancy,” says the firm.

Rixen was founded by Bruno Rixen in 1961, laying the groundwork for a global watersports movement. By 1966, it had opened its first commercial cable park. From the 1990s through the 2010s, the company experienced international growth and undertook landmark projects.

Over the years, Rixen Cableway has completed over 500 installations across more than 90 countries, ranging from private wake parks to world-class event venues.

The company provides turnkey solutions for commercial cable park systems, featuring a water ski cableway with 5-6 towers that can be installed over water or land.

It uses high-precision technology to engage riders’ tow lines via carriers on a continuous cable loop, starting from a glide ramp. The system can accommodate up to 12 riders simultaneously, serving 300 to 500 visitors daily with low operational costs, making it a profitable option for water sports operators.
