The company signed an agreement with the International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation at The World Games 2025

Rixen Cableway, a global pioneer in the design and manufacture of cable water ski and wakeboard systems, has been announced as the Official Cableway Partner of the International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation (IWWF).

This was confirmed after a formal agreement was signed by José Antonio Pérez Priego, president of the IWWF, and Rixen CEO Richard Söhnchen at The World Games 2025 in Chengdu, China.

This strategic partnership marks a significant milestone in the joint mission to grow and enhance cable water sports globally. As part of the agreement, Rixen will bring its acclaimed cableway technology and technical expertise to support IWWF’s competitive events, including the World-Titled Cable Wakeboard & Waterski competitions.

Additionally, Rixen will be a key player in the IWWF’s efforts to lobby for Olympic inclusion of cable wakeboarding and waterskiing.

As the preferred manufacturer for international cableway installations, Rixen’s contribution will extend beyond supplying state-of-the-art equipment. The company will also provide qualified engineers to ensure the success of IWWF’s events, helping to promote the growth of cable wakeboarding and other towed water sports.

Advancing the sport

“IWWF is thrilled to partner with Rixen,” says José Antonio Pérez Priego. “Their innovation and expertise in cable systems align perfectly with our goal of growing cable sports worldwide.

“Together, we’re advancing the sport and making a stronger case for its Olympic future.”

Richard Söhnchen adds: “We are honored to be recognized by the IWWF. This partnership represents more than just an equipment supply agreement—it’s about shaping the future of the sport, supporting athletes, and fostering the next generation of talent.

“With our cutting-edge cableway, we’re committed to enhancing the athlete experience while advancing sustainability in watersports.”

With over 550 installations worldwide, Rixen’s leadership in the cable park sector is firmly established. Recognised for their eco-friendly design, Rixen’s cable parks reduce energy consumption by up to 95% compared to boat systems, making them both sustainable and cost-effective.

The partnership with the IWWF will further strengthen Rixen’s influence in shaping wakeboarding and cable watersports, creating vibrant, community-led environments for athletes and enthusiasts.

Last month, it was also announced that Rixen Cableway has partnered with Sub Sea Systems, Inc., working with the newly formed Sub Sea Creative division. Jakub Kondelka of Rixen Cableway will be at the Sub Sea Systems booth, #1-555, during IAAPA Expo Europe 2025 next week.
