Attractions.io, a leading creator of mobile visitor apps, has worked with the UK’s Marwell Zoo to introduce a new guest-facing app. This will make it easier for guests at the 140-acre zoological park, which attracts over 500,000 visitors a year, to plan their day, locate their favourite animals, and stay informed about the zoo’s latest news.
With more visitors expecting an app than ever before, the zoo’s previous solution was not able to cope with the increased load, meaning it turned to attractions.io for a new system. Attractions.io’s SaaS-based platform, which is already used by more than 50 attractions and 4 million visitors across the globe, guarantees a stable solution that the operator can rely on.
Designed with guests in mind
The new app is designed to meet the needs of a busy visitor attraction, with features such as all-day battery life, support for online and offline usage and over-the-air updates. It will be implemented at Marwell Zoo from April 2022.
Guests will benefit from an interactive map, helping them to find where they are, explore where to find the different animal habitats and get GPS enabled directions to points of interest around the park. The new rotating maps will make it simple for visitors to orientate themselves within the park.
There are benefits for the operator too, thanks to Attractions.io insight and communication tool. These can help the zoo’s guest teams to build better relationships with guests during their visit. The app also features push messaging, Bluetooth beacon support and user segmentation capabilities as well as an easy-to-use reporting suite.
Future-proofing the visitor experience
“We’re excited to work with Marwell Zoo on their mobile app and optimise their solution to better suit the needs of today’s guests,” says Danielle Bastiaens, head of delivery at Attractions.io. “The team at Marwell are huge advocates of mobile technology, and we look forward to giving them even more opportunities to connect with guests, share news of their conservation programmes and inspire the next generation of wildlife enthusiasts.”
Sean Mannie, commercial director at Marwell Zoo, adds: “We’re excited to launch the new app as we head into our summer season. Moving to the Attractions.io platform reflects the importance of technology in future-proofing the guest experience here at Marwell.
“We’re passionate about providing tools that help our guests make great memories with us and the app gives us huge scope to fulfil that goal. Our large park will be easier to navigate, we can access insights that help us personalise the guest experience and we’ll be able to keep guests up-to-date using real-time messaging during their visit.”
For operators wanting to learn more about bringing a mobile app to their zoo or animal attraction, the company has also created a free guide called “Improving communication and the visitor experience for Zoos”, which is available here.
Attractions.io has also recently developed a new app for Chester Zoo which offers better reliability, responsiveness, and stability.
