The Society for Experiential Graphic Design (SEGD) is an association for creators of content-rich, emotionally compelling, experiential spaces for a wide range of environments, including museums, brand experiences, and themed environments.
Member’s work creates a sense of place, helps people find their way, communicates important information and fuels a dialogue between users and the spaces they inhabit. It is the orchestration of typography, colour, imagery, form, technology and content to create environments that communicate.
Members develop static and digital wayfinding systems, signage, environmental graphics, exhibition content, multimedia installations, public art, user interfaces and branded/corporate environments. They research, plan, design and build a diverse range of visual communications and information systems for the built environment.
Operating at the intersection of communications and the built environment, the field embraces a wide range of disciplines including graphic design, architectural, interior, landscape, digital and industrial design.
SEGD offers its members many opportunities to network, share knowledge and connect with fellow experiential graphic design practitioners. Professional development activities including physical events, an academic summit and conference, local chapter events and webinars.
The SEGD Global Design Awards celebrate excellence in experiential graphic design. Categories recognise projects across placemaking, interactive experiences, digital experiences, wayfinding, exhibitions, public installation, strategy/research/planning, the Sylvia Harris Award to recognise design for public good, and the best in show.
