New visitor complex proposed for Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs

The United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs may be in line for a brand new visitor complex.

If the proposal is approved, the site would offer a new Air Force Academy visitor centre, hotel, restaurants and retail shops.

Blue and Silver Development Partners presented plans to El Paso Commissioners last week.

The project is a response to falling visitor numbers. Attendance has reportedly plummeted since 9/11. One of the main reasons is thought to be the increase in security requirements.

The City for Champions project in Colorado Springs includes a $13 million dollar tax incentive for a new visitor centre.
