The Toronto Zoo has issued a Requests for Pre-qualification for a Ticketing System Solution – of which qualified vendors will be shortlisted to participate in an RFP.

In the request, the zoo explains that it currently uses Admits point-of-sale system for all admission transactions. They also use Microsoft Customer Relations Management (CRM); Hartmann Access Management Software; and Canadian Parking Equipment smart card parking solution.

They are seeking the provision and implementation of a Solution that will address admission, ride and parking operations. This may include any required interface or integration with the Zoo’s current CRM and financial systems.

The new ticketing system will be required to ensure that a system is in place to handle all individual and group admission transactions, both onsite and online. It will also be required to handle sales and redemptions of any other user-fee products as defined by management.

Annual attendance at the zoo is approximately 1.3 million. The Toronto Zoo is open every day except Christmas Day. Attendance count fluctuates throughout the season.

The zoo is seeking a provider who has supplied a solution and services to a similar size and type of attraction.

The deadline for proposals is the 14th September, at which point the Zoo will review the Proposals submitted to determine whether the Proponent has demonstrated that it has the required experience and qualifications.

The Toronto Zoo is the largest zoo in Canada.  It opened on August 15th 1974 as the Metropolitan Toronto Zoo and is owned by the City of Toronto, Ontario.  The zoo is located near the Rouge River, in the city’s east end district of Scarborough.  It spans 287 hectares (710 acres) and is divided into seven zoogeographic regions: Indo-Malaya, Africa, Americas, Tundra Trek, Australasia, Eurasia, and the Canadian Domain. It is currently home to over 5,000 animals (including invertebrates and fish) representing over 500 species.
