Disneyland unveils virtual queue guide for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Disneyland has released a guide to virtual queues, as well as planning tips, ahead of the opening of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance on January 17 at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in California.

The immersive ride from Walt Disney Imagineering opened at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida in December 2019.

According to Disney Parks Blog, visitors can download the official Disneyland mobile app, which lets them navigate Galaxy’s Edge and use the mobile ordering feature at some dining locations.

As of January 17, a virtual queue will be implemented, as needed, letting guests explore different areas of Disneyland while waiting for their turn to ride Rise of the Resistance.

The Disneyland app will feature a dedicated module, ‘Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – Access by Boarding Group’, available on the main page.

Guests can request to join a boarding group to ride the attraction once they enter Disneyland, with the virtual queue available during published park opening hours.

Boarding groups will be sent a push notification when it’s their turn to queue, and the status of boarding groups can be monitored on the app.

Boarding groups can also be joined from certain locations at Disneyland for those who aren’t using the app, and there will be signage throughout the theme park displaying boarding group status.

However, Disney notes that admission into Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will be subject to capacity, and having an assigned boarding group will not guarantee entrance.

Meanwhile, Savi’s Workshop, Droid Depot and Oga’s Cantina offer advance reservations up to 60 days before your visit.

In more news, R2-D2 has finally joined the cast of characters roaming and gliding around Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will debut in 2021 at Walt Disney World Resort, with Disney recently releasing new concept images of the immersive two-night hotel experience.
