Firm’s technology is chosen by Rigging in Motion

Beckhoff Automation, an innovator in PC-based control technology and automation software for the entertainment and leisure industries, has revealed how its solutions are being used behind the scenes in Hollywood.

The family-owned company realises open automation systems based on PC-based control technology and the fieldbus technology EtherCAT. The products and technologies are used in various industries and applications, such as the entertainment industry. For example, Beckhoff technology is used by Rigging in Motion, a firm that specialises in the automation of stage technology.

The company’s trusses and rigging platforms are used worldwide in film productions and event stunts – all automated with PC-based control.

No limits to creativity with PC-based control

György Posztós is the managing director of Rigging in Motion, which is headquartered in the Hungarian city of Dunakeszi. Explaining why Beckhoff’s solutions are the ideal choice for Rigging in Motion, he says:

“I travel to exhibitions for stage technology every year, and when I came across the Beckhoff booth around five years ago, I was fascinated to find that they were offering components rather than finished solutions, which was perfect for us since we were looking for tools and building blocks to develop our own products”.

Beckhoff, which employs over 6,000 people and has 40 offices globally, specialises in drive technology, automation software, and industrial computers for a wide range of industries, including the stage, show, lighting, entertainment, and attractions sectors. The company has created a range of products for the entertainment industry. Its technology can control components for 4/5-D cinema effects, animatronics, kinetic objects, AV installations, movable water features, stage machinery, lighting effects and more.

The team at Beckhoff use their knowledge to meticulously develop the newest technologies to advance the industry, creating everything from flying theatres to dark rides. The TwinCAT and EtherCAT automation software work together with modern processors to produce one-of-a-kind experiences.
