Hawana Aqua Park in Oman, Salalah’s first water park, is expected to open at the end of year.
The attractions at the facility include water slides, big tube-rides for 3-4 people, leisure pools, pool-front cabins, wave pools and a main tower.
Oman’s Muriya Tourism Development Company opened the complex, which covers an area over 65,000 square metres, will have a food court, retail shopping centre as well as ample parking.
Ahmed bin Nasser Hamad Al Mahrizi, Oman’s Minister of Tourism toured Hawana Aqua Park recently. “We were briefed on the most prominent developments in the construction works of the project, which are expected to be completed by the end of this year.
“The aqua park is a dynamic addition to the entertainment facilities of Hawana Salalah’s first-class tourism project. The state-of-the-art development highlights the important role ITCs continue to play in attracting investment to Oman, serving as a gateway for domestic and international visitors to enjoy the year-round beauty of the Governorate of Dhofar.”

Mahrizi added: “The Ministry of Tourism is always working to elevate the quality of tourism in the Sultanate and has worked hand-in-hand with the private sector to realize that ambition through the development of high footfall tourism projects.
“This approach has helped substantially boost the year-on-year growth of visitors to Oman. As a result of this successful strategy, we have already signed a number of agreements to establish even more exciting projects in the near future.”
Increased investment in Oman
Oman has ploughed in substantial funds towards resorts and hotels to entice visitors from around the globe, reported the Times of Oman.
The Hawana Aqua Park in Salalah is a joint venture between the state-owned Oman Tourism Development Company and Egypt’s Orascom Development Holding.
The water park is the latest in a number of attractions developed to solidify Salalah’s position as a prime tourist destination.
Hawana Salalah is Oman’s largest tourism destination, located in the capital of Oman’s southernmost governorate, Dhofar.
