Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas sets sail with new attractions

Wonder Playscape, a new underwater-themed play area, features slides, games, interactive activities and imaginative puzzles.

Royal Caribbean‘s Wonder of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise ship with a new underwater-themed play area, has departed for the Caribbean from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Wonder of the Seas boasts eight innovative neighbourhoods, a first for Royal Caribbean, offering more than 20 restaurants, bars and lounges, as well as entertainment.

Highlights include a new underwater-themed play area called Wonder Playscape, featuring slides, climbing walls, games, interactive activities, imaginative puzzles and light shows.

Additional offerings include ‘The Ultimate Abyss’, the tallest slide at sea, and the ‘FlowRider’ surf simulator, as well as ‘Splashaway Bay’, an aqua park for children, and a trio of high-speed waterslides called ‘The Perfect Storm’.

“WonderĀ will shine bright as the world’s newest wonder in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean,” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean.

“And what’s in store is the ultimate vacation experience that highlights the very best of Royal Caribbean, reimagines renowned favourites and introduces new adventures every guest, no matter their age, can enjoy.”

Wonder of the Seas will be sailing to locations including Perfect Day at CocoCay, a $250m private island with its own water park in the Bahamas, exclusive to Royal Caribbean guests.

Royal Caribbean’s Spectrum of the Seas, launched in 2019, featured new experiences such as immersive augmented reality (AR) games and virtual reality (VR) trampolining.

“Royal Caribbean has always been known for innovating and pushing the boundaries, and Spectrum of the Seas is a great example of this,” said Bayley.

Wonder of the SeasĀ is sailingĀ CaribbeanĀ cruises through April 2022, before heading to Barcelona, Spain, andĀ RomeĀ for a summer in the Mediterranean.Ā
