Holovis announces new two-in-one TiO solution

News
TiO by Holovis

System allows two different media or real-time interactive experiences to be delivered simultaneously

Holovis, a leading experience designer, presents TiO, a new technology solution that allows for the creation of two different experiences on a ride or attraction at the same time. With the Patent-Pending TiO system (two-in-one) two different media or real-time interactive experiences can be delivered simultaneously on every screen within the overall design.

TiO uses technology that is similar to that used in 3D theatres. It allows one group of visitors to see one immersive video or to interact with one set of real-time gameplay, while the other group in the same ride vehicle see or interact with something different, on the same screen.

In another first, this new product also means that intertwined storytelling narratives can be shown so that visitors can separate and then reunite as the experience unfolds.

Next-gen technology

TiO can easily be integrated with the company’s HoloTrac solution, which it has been developing for the last five years. HoloTrac is already in use at popular attractions across the globe, helping operators to deliver frictionless and deviceless interactions, with gesture and camera-tracking options and real-time data and AI-driven next-generation solutions.

Holovis is continuously coming up with next-generation technology for theme park attractions and experiences. A recent example is the LEGO Factory Adventure Ride at LEGOLAND New York.

The technology behind TiO uses high frame rate LED screens, displaying two different sets of media or real-time content on alternating frames. By showing guests every other frame, filtered and synchronised by the lightweight glasses, the result, when also combined with the HoloTrac capabilities, provides for a flexible and creative approach to the development of immersive experiences, dark rides, flying theatres, walk-through attractions and more.

Real-time interaction

With individualized on-board and scene-by-scene immersive audio, integrated creatively with the scenic design, there are so many possibilities. For instance, a superhero ride that enables riders to choose the narrative and the outcome of the action, while with real-time game content and interaction that they can experience with family and friends, either battling it out against each other or working together as a team.

The real-time interaction means that riders can choose the intensity of their attraction. For example, with something like a haunted house ride, children and adults would be able to decide how scary they wanted the content to be, and could also make it different the next time they come back for more, boosting the re-rideability.

“After the success of our HoloTrac technology and our recent large-scale projects in the Middle East and China which have deployed our own large-scale immersive LED technology solutions, we knew the time was right to bring these capabilities together and create something very unique that’s not been achieved before in mainstream attractions and experiences,” says CEO Stuart Hetherington.

“This is a never-before-seen innovation for theme parks and experience venues, and we’re excited about the reception the idea has been receiving from our theme park clients and operators we’ve already discussed it with”

Marketing manager Ben Fry adds “Rides and attractions are best experienced as a community with others, so we’re really excited by the developments offered by TiO in allowing guests of all ages to ride, experience and be immersed together, while being given a new level of agency around interaction and choosing their preferred experience and then discussing the differences in what they’ve seen and done afterwards, before deciding how they want to experience it all over again!”.

The company will be exhibiting at IAAPA Expo Europe at London’s ExCeL from 13 – 15 September. The team will be available to talk about all of Holovis’ latest projects and products at booth # 3437.
