ICON Park in Orlando, Florida is opening a new family entertainment centre (FEC) called ‘Max Action Arena’, owned and operated by Family Entertainment Group.
The 8,000-square-foot FEC will feature virtual reality (VR), as well as adventure rooms, axe-throwing and an intergalactic escape room.
“This isn’t your average family entertainment center,” said Ray Smith, vice president of business development at Family Entertainment Group.
The company previously opened the ‘In The Game’ amusement centre at ICON Park. “We’ve created Max Action Arena with engaging, interactive fun at the forefront,” said Smith.
Max Action Arena coming to Orlando
“With its cutting-edge VR technology and collaborative experiences, Max Action Arena is the perfect place for friends and family to compete and explore together.”
Zero Latency VR will put guests in a “huge arena to battle or explore” with other visitors. The axe-throwing is “like darts – but with axes”.
The adventure rooms will challenge guests to solve crimes, decode puzzles in a medieval world, experience alien abductions and survive a creepy and cursed room.
The escape room, called ‘Escape from Planet Obscura’, takes guests to a distant alien planet where they attempt to repair their damaged spacecraft and avoid being stranded in space forever.

Chris Jaskiewicz, ICON Park‘s president and CEO, said In The Game “has been a favorite for guests since opening day and we’re looking forward to welcoming Max Action Arena this fall”.
“Our team is always looking to add innovative concepts and experiences to create an all-encompassing entertainment destination for our guests.”
Earlier this year, ICON Park paused a controversial target shooting game called ‘Bullseye Blast’ that allowed guests on its observation wheel to shoot at targets across the attraction.
In a statement (via ClickOrlando), ICON Park said it will create an attraction that “does not offend anyone in the community”.
Prior to that, 14-year-old Tyre Sampson fell from the park’s Free Fall ride and died.
