Barco, the technology company focusing on innovative visualisation solutions, will be exhibiting at ISE 2023, which takes place at the Fira Barcelona, Gran Vía in Barcelona from 31 January to 3 February. The team will be showcasing a new Pulse mobile app, as well as an update to the Insights Management Suit platform.
With this strengthened projection software platform, alongside its expanding hardware offering, the firm is entering this year with a strong portfolio, allowing users to manage and control their projection with a high degree of customisation, in order to meet the different demands of individual projects.
Introducing the Pulse Mobile App
The Pulse Mobile App is the newest addition to the Pulse ecosystem, which offers a range of software tools to facilitate easier projection control. The app is now available in the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. It works as a remote control and enables quick adjustments to core projection parameters, like lens adjustments, projector orientation, shutter power, test patterns, and black level settings.
Craig Lawrence, video and projects director at SFL Group, was part of the group tasked with beta testing the new Pulse mobile app. He says:
“The solution gives us remote access to the features of the Pulse interface which saves us a lot of precious time and is beneficial in those complex set-ups where the projector is mounted in hard-to-reach places. It’s a great asset, and we’re excited to see how the Pulse ecosystem further evolves!”
Additions to Barco’s Insights Management Suite
The Barco Insights Management Suite is another platform for projector software from the visualisation company. The Internet of Things (IoT) cloud-based solution for improved fleet management is designed to render projector remote monitoring and serviceability easier and more convenient.
The first version of this solution was available for the UDM and UDX flagship line projectors. Later, it increased the range of options with the introduction of the XDM and XDX RGB laser projectors. There are now around 2,000 projectors being registered to the Insights platform, according to the firms’ most recent statistics.
Soon, the Management Suite will also be supported for the G62 and G100 single-chip laser projectors. Kristof Geerkens, software product manager at Barco, says:
“We really wanted to extend the benefits of our software platforms across our projection portfolio. In doing so, this offers consistency to users who own a mix of different Barco projectors and can now manage their entire fleet from just one platform.”
More new features
Barco will also be introducing a new feature to the Insights Management Suite platform. Users can now remotely schedule the power on or off for a single projector or a group of projectors using the Projector Power Scheduler. This functionality is intended for fixed installations or semi-permanent projection mappings where the technical team is not always on-site to change the projector’s power settings.
“To bring a software solution that brings value and answers the needs of those in field, we continuously invest time and effort to follow-up feature requests and product feedback from our partners,” says Geerkens. “Our respondents in the market indicated a need for tools which address labor shortages and increase efficiency. Today this results in the introduction of our new projector power scheduler.”
The scheduler functionality is currently available for the UDX and UDM projectors with an Insights Management Suite Control subscription or trial active.
Attendees at ISE 2023 can discover the latest developments from Barco at stand #3D400.
Earlier this week, the company also announced that it has reached a new milestone for its G-series line as sales for the single-chip laser phosphor projectors have hit the symbolic marker of 10,000 units.
