The immersive attraction takes visitors on a train ride through colourful candy worlds.

Hershey’s Chocolate World in Pennsylvania is opening a new experience for candy fans on 19 May called ‘Hershey’s Great Candy Expedition’.

The immersive attraction takes visitors on a train ride through six colourful candy worlds inspired by Hershey’s brands, including Hershey’s Kisses, Reese’s, Jolly Rancher, Kit Kat, Twizzlers, Almond Joy and Mounds.

The 30-minute journey includes a multi-sensory animated theatre show with 4K projection mapping on a 270-degree screen.

It begins in a train station inspired by the ‘golden age of travel’, with an Art Deco-style departure board and retro posters. While waiting to board the ‘Hersheyland Express’, visitors enjoy a tasting experience.

After boarding, guests see the theatre show, which uses special effects including scents such as berry, coconut, roasted peanut and Hershey’s chocolate. At the end of the expedition, guests take home a bag filled with candy.

The attraction “combines the nostalgia of train-style travel, the story of Hershey’s beloved candy brands, and cutting-edge technology“, said Suzanne Jones, vice president of the Hershey Experience.

Hershey’s Chocolate World offers various experiences, including a tour of the chocolate factory, the chance to create your own chocolate bar, and Hershey’s largest candy store.

The visitor attraction can be found next to Hersheypark in Pennsylvania, and in New York City, Las Vegas, Niagara Falls, and Singapore.

Special effects and immersive entertainment

Hershey’s Chocolate World is part of the Hershey Experience, the experiential division of the Hershey Company.

Earlier this year, Hersheypark shared a full POV render for Wildcat’s Revenge, a new wood and steel hybrid coaster set to open in summer 2023.

Manufactured by Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC), the coaster has three custom trains, which were revealed at IAAPA Expo 2022.

“Based on our guest feedback, we knew coaster fans would love a hybrid at Hersheypark – and we’re thrilled to work with RMC on a custom wood and steel coaster with a nod to our history,” said Vikki Hultquist, general manager of attractions at Hersheypark.
