Collaboration announced by Emirati astronaut from the International Space Station

Dubai’s Museum of the Future has partnered with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre to highlight the UAE’s achievements in the space sector.

The partnership was announced by Emirati astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi in a new video filmed from the International Space Station (ISS).

The collaboration “will achieve fresh milestones within the UAE’s realms of technology and space, striving for great heights in a country that does not know the word ‘impossible'”, Al Neyadi said.

Alongside the space centre, the Museum of the Future will host various events, activities and initiatives. The museum already features an entire floor to showcase humanity’s future in space in the year 2071.

Salem Humaid Al Marri, director general of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre, said the work with the museum “aligns with our shared vision of making space science more accessible”.

Additionally, it “further presents a unique opportunity for children and families in the UAE to engage, learn, and expand their knowledge and understanding of space”, he added.

Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of Dubai Future Foundation, said the relationship “will enhance our efforts in contributing to outer space exploration and improving quality of life on Earth”.

He added, “This partnership also highlights the UAE’s exceptional achievements within the space sector and will continue to support our leadership’s vision both for Earth and for outer space.”

Partnership announced from ISS

The museum’s partnership with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre comes at a time when commercial spaceflight blasts off in the tourism sector.

Richard Branson‘s company Virgin Galactic is due to launch its space tourism service at the end of this month. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos‘ Blue Origin completed its first commercial flight on the New Shepard spacecraft in July 2021.

Meanwhile, the Museum of the Future has introduced a robotic dog to greet and interact with visitors. The bot joins the museum’s growing robot community, including an AI-powered humanoid robot named Ameca.
