Universal Orlando has officially opened its new Minion Land, home to the Villain-Con Minion Blast attraction and Minion Cafe.
Developed by Universal’s creative team in partnership with Illumination filmmakers, the colourful new land features Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast, the Minion Cafe, and the Evil Stuff retail outlet.
It also includes the Bake My Day retail location and bakery, and the Pop-A-Nana Freeze Ray Pops F&B outlets. Outside the Illumination Theater, guests can meet and interact with characters from the films.

“This immersive and captivating new addition to our destination was brought to life in a partnership with our colleagues at Illumination and puts our guests into the heart, and villainous minds, of this diabolically fun franchise,” said Karen Irwin, president and COO of Universal Orlando Resort.
“This rich new environment has so much for all our guests to enjoy.”
Chris Meledandri, founder and CEO of Illumination, added: “After we visited Villain-Con in the first Minions, we all felt that there were many more stories to tell.
“I am thrilled for guests of all ages to discover our new Minion Land including the innovative gamified experience at Villain-Con Minion Blast where they can battle our favorite villains featured in the Despicable Me franchise, from the iconic Vector to the most recent supervillain supergroup, the Vicious 6.”
New F&B

Villain-Con Minion Blast offers immersive sets, interactive technology and an original storyline. It is also the first attraction to feature a connected gameplay experience via the official Universal Orlando app.
By syncing their blasters to the app, players can track their scores, take on special missions in the attraction, and unlock evil perks and powerful blasts to gain more points and earn digital collectibles.
Minion Cafe is an immersive eatery with three Minion-themed areas, and Bake My Day is a retail location selling sweet treats and exclusive merchandise.

Pop-a-Nana is a kiosk selling banana popcorn, and Freeze Ray Pops is another F&B window serving colourful frozen treats.
The new land and experiences join Universal Studios Florida‘s existing Despicable Me Minion Mayhem ride.
Next year, Universal Studios Florida is opening a new DreamWorks Animation-themed land.
