Journey of Water is an exploration trail where guests can play with living water

Cast members at Walt Disney World are set to preview Epcot’s new Moana attraction, a magical walk-through experience called Journey of Water.

Inspired by Disney’s 2016 animated film, Journey of Water opens this fall and is located in the World Nature neighbourhood of Epcot. It is described as an exploration trail where guests can enjoy and play with magical, living water.

In a new video of the upcoming attraction, which can be seen below, cast members are shown interacting with the water features. These respond to their movements and presence. The video also unveils the Te Fiti display and themed environment.

Previously, Walt Disney Imagineering’s lead concept designer Reid Ekman described the experience as an “immersive exploration trail” where visitors will “explore and engage with water as it travels from our skies to our oceans and back again”.

While testing the interactive water features this year, Imagineering wrote on Instagram: “Guests of all ages will engage with water in a variety of ways as they learn about water’s amazing ‘journey’ around our natural world, including ways to better conserve our natural resources and protect water as it voyages throughout our natural world, connecting us all.

“We hope everyone feels inspired to connect with water as a friend, just like Moana did in the film.”

Meanwhile at Disney World, data from the analysis firm Touring Plans showed thinner crowds at the Florida parks over the summer, the Wall Street Journal reported.

In response, Disney CEO Bob Iger said he’s “not at all concerned” and suggested that lower attendance is due to more competition post-pandemic.

Despite lower results at Disney World, the company’s theme parks segment recently reported a 13 percent increase in revenue to $8.3 billion in the third quarter of this year.
