Shanghai Disneyland has unveiled the new attraction, as well as the retail and dining experiences, in its Zootopia-themed land, scheduled to open later this year.
The park’s eighth themed land – and the first Zootopia zone at a Disney park – will be an immersive and vibrant city inhabited by characters from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 2016 film.
Zootopia: Hot Pursuit, the land’s ride, is set after the events of the film as the residents of Zootopia prepare for a concert featuring Gazelle. Upon arrival at the Zootopia Police Department, guests will be met by Officer Clawhauser.

An alarm sounds and guests are given an emergency briefing by Chief Bongo, who reveals that Gazelle has been kidnapped.
Next, riders find themselves on a police chase with Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde across the city’s terrains, including Tundra Town, Sahara Square, Mystic Springs Oasis and the Rainforest District.
F&B outlets in the upcoming land include Jumbeaux’s Cafe, an ice cream parlor and café owned by Jerry Jumbeaux, Jr. For Shanghai Disney Resort, the eatery has been adapted to welcome animals of all sizes.
Guests at Shanghai Disneyland will also be able to get a Pawpsicle, or paw-shaped popsicle, and a chocolate marshmallow inspired by the film’s Jumbo-pop.

Donuts will be available in two different sizes for small and large animals. Additionally, the land will serve a blueberry pie created by Gideon Grey and a carrot-shaped lollipop.
As for retail, Fashions by Fru Fru is owned by Fru Fru the arctic shrew. Polar bear Koslov, a member of the Tundratown mafia, will be seen guarding the shop’s main entrance.
The store will sell more than 200 products – many of which were designed exclusively for the land – including headwear, apparel and accessories based on characters such as Judy, Nick, Flash and Clawhauser.
Meanwhile, Shanghai Disney Resort has started building its third themed hotel. The 400-room accommodation will join the 420-room Shanghai Disneyland Hotel and the 795-room Toy Story Hotel.

It will feature new dining, shopping and entertainment experiences, and immersive spaces showcasing Disney characters and stories.
Inspired by Art Nouveau architecture and design, the hotel will be “authentically Disney and distinctly Chinese”, according to a press release.
Shanghai Disney Resort is a joint venture between the Walt Disney Company and Shanghai Shendi Group.
In more news, Shanghai Disneyland is one of the first official trial sites in China for the country’s new ‘smart tourism’ initiative.
