Saudia will be the first airline to fly to and from the new Red Sea International Airport at Saudi Arabia‘s Red Sea destination.
The airport is on track to launch this year alongside the first three resorts at The Red Sea. To begin with, it will open for domestic flights to and from Riyadh and later Jeddah. From 2024, the Red Sea International Airport will offer international flights.
“When the first commercial flight lands at Red Sea International, it won’t just be a point of personal pride for Red Sea Global,” said John Pagano, CEO of Red Sea Global.
Red Sea International Airport opens this year
“It will be a milestone moment for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in making that vision a reality. It is fitting, therefore, that the kingdom’s flag carrier, Saudia, will be first to operate from our destination.”
Red Sea Global, Saudia and daa International, the airport’s operator, will also research the use of lower-carbon aviation fuel and sustainable aviation fuel at Red Sea International Airport.
Additionally, the companies will evaluate the use of electric vertical take-off and landing jets to reduce emissions from air travel to The Red Sea.

“This agreement will strengthen our position in the kingdom and allow us to collaborate with Red Sea Global and daa International to boost tourism and enhance the country’s standing within international aviation” said Ibrahim Koshy, CEO of Saudia.
“Red Sea International is a new gateway for travellers to experience the wonders of Saudi Arabia,” said Nicholas Cole, CEO of daa International.
After the launch of the first three resorts at The Red Sea this year, a further 13 hotels will open in the first phase. Upon completion in 2030, the destination will have 50 resorts across 22 islands and six inland sites. There will also be luxury marinas, golf courses, entertainment and leisure experiences, and F&B.
