Katapult B Corp Certified

The firm is the first themed attraction design organisation in the world to achieve the award

Katapult, the international guest experience design agency, has announced that it has earned B Corp Certification. The firm is the first themed attraction design organisation in the world to achieve this status, which recognises high standards in social and environmental impact.

Dawn Foote, co-founder and CEO of Katapult, says: “We are incredibly proud to be part of the B Corp community of businesses that are a force for good and that we are leading from the front in our exciting leisure and attractions industry – helping to drive forward greater positive impact for society and the environment.

“It has long been our mission to ensure the work we do changes the lives of all stakeholders, as well as our clients and 50 million visitors that experience our work every single year. We believe in bringing people together to connect, to create things responsibly, sustainably and for everyone – while making room to make a positive community impact and doing good in the world. To become B Corp certified is testament to the team’s ongoing efforts to make this mission happen.”

Achieving B Corp Certification

B Corp Certification indicates that an organisation meets high standards of verified performance, accountability, and transparency on a range of issues including employee benefits, charitable giving, supply chain policies and input materials.

To become B Corp Certified, an organisation needs to:

  • Obtain a B Impact Assessment score of 80 or higher and pass a risk review to evidence high social and environmental performance. Multinational corporations are also required to meet minimum requirements.
  • Change their corporate governance structure so that they are legally responsible to all stakeholders, in addition to shareholders, and achieve benefit corporation status, if it is granted in their jurisdiction.
  • Allow information about their performance against B Lab’s standards to be publicly available on their B Corp profile on B Lab’s website to demonstrate transparency.

Katapult received high marks during the certification process for its contributions to its employees’ financial security, health, wellness, and safety, its economic impact on its community, and its positive impact on air and climate.

Katapult B Corp Certified Helping Hands

In order to continue creating a positive impact for both people and the environment, Katapult will launch its next Helping Hands initiative in 2024. Helping Hands donates £10,000 of support to a chosen charity or organisation for a visitor attraction project.

Since its inception in 2018, the Helping Hands initiative has supported six projects, including the UNESCO World Heritage Site Cromford Mills, and has collaborated with The Eden Project on a nature-based regeneration project in Derby, UK.

Katapult recently exhibited at IAAPA Expo Europe in Vienna, where the team showcased its themed resort design expertise.
