Cosm Premium Media Program

Program includes three newly added productions from the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH)

Cosm, a global technology company that builds end-to-end solutions for immersive experiences, has unveiled its new Premium Media Program.

Members of the Premium Media Program enjoy regular, exclusive access to an ever-increasing number of immersive films. Over 40 award-winning fulldome shows are already available, and now include three American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) productions.

High-quality immersive content

Cosm Studios’ new Premium Media Program offers planetariums using Digistar – the most sophisticated planetarium technology in the world – a cost-effective and adaptable means of accessing the expanding fulldome content collection.

The company has developed its Premium Media Program to provide a diverse choice of high-quality immersive content, including three AMNH productions, allowing venues to effortlessly adapt their annual programming and develop a meaningful connection with the communities they serve.

The Premium Media Program includes:

  • Four films available each year, which can be cycled on a yearly basis.
  • Educational resources for classrooms and field trips, plus marketing materials.
  • Five-year term with an annual licence fee.
  • Pricing which is set by dome size and annual visitor numbers.
  • Access to new releases from Cosm Studios , unique material, dome tests, creator meet-and-greet events, visitor feedback, partnership opportunities with Cosm Studios’ Content Committee, and more.

Cosm will continue to build its community of immersive creators and fulldome studios, such as AMNH, and has ambitions to extend its Premium Media Program partnerships in the near term. The firm will offer over 40 fulldome films, including three produced by AMNH, to the global network of Digistar planetariums that have joined Cosm’s Premium Media Program as part of this first release.

Cosm’s Premium Media Program will continue to focus on premium science and education content, while also increasing the program’s portfolio to include child-friendly and alternative fulldome productions.

Neil Carty, VP, head of Cosm Studios and Labs, says: “We created this program to ensure that Digistar Planetariums have easy access to a variety of fulldome shows. Not only is this a tremendous value but it gives planetariums the flexibility to adjust their yearly programming, attract new visitors, and offer fresh, new content.

“Whether you are emphasizing school field trips or looking to present family-focused shows, the Premium Media Program allows greater flexibility for you to meet your mission and grow your audience. Our team is happy to work with you to develop a content program that fits your needs.”

AMNH productions

The three AMNH films now available on the Premium Media Program are:

Cosm Premium Media Program Worlds Beyond Earth

Worlds Beyond Earth

Worlds Beyond Earth, narrated by Lupita Nyong’o, the Academy Award winner, explores the unexpectedly dynamic planets which orbit our Sun. Audiences will experience a thrilling journey through our cosmic neighbourhood with Worlds Beyond Earth in 8K, which is based on scientific data from pioneering space missions.

With remarkable precision, immersive visualisations present the solar system through a variety of scenarios, such as landing on our Moon’s cratered surface, taking a dramatic trip through Saturn’s whirling rings, and visits to far-off worlds with submerged oceans and active volcanoes. This production was developed by the American Museum of Natural History, New York.

Cosm Premium Media Program Dark Universe

Dark Universe

Dark Universe, narrated by Neil Degrasse Tyson, honours a new era of cosmic discovery and explores its deepest secrets. Dark Universe includes breathtaking scenes from recent spacecraft, such as the Galileo probe’s astounding descent into Jupiter’s atmosphere, as well as the most accurate visualisations ever produced, such as a Milky Way galaxy glittering with exploding supernovas, and novel renderings of highly debated phenomena, such as dark matter.

The American Museum of Natural History in New York collaborated with the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco and GOTO INC in Tokyo, Japan to create Dark Universe.

Cosm Premium Media Program Passport to the Universe

Passport to the Universe

Passport to the Universe, narrated by Tom Hanks, transports viewers billions of lightyears from Earth and the Milky Way galaxy to the edge of the Universe. Audiences sail beneath Saturn’s rings, into the centre of the Orion Nebula, and out into the enormity of the observable universe, where they will encounter breathtaking cosmic locations like never before.

The American Museum of Natural History in New York created Passport to the Universe in partnership with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco has provided significant support for the new version.

Cosm is dedicated to offering unique immersive experiences and content to audiences across the globe and powers over 700 planetariums worldwide.

Digistar planetariums that wish to regularly offer fresh content to their audiences or add Worlds Beyond Earth, Dark Universe, and/or Passport to the Universe to their current programming subscription are invited to contact the firm for a quote.

Cosm recently shared details of its pioneering broadcast agreement with TNT Sports. Under this multi-year partnership, Cosm will produce and deliver live, high-quality sports programming from across TNT Sports’ offering in immersive 8K+ at its upcoming venues.
