Integrated Systems Europe (ISE), the largest AV and systems integration show in the world, will be sponsoring the Llum BCN’24 light arts festival for the third year running. ISE opens today, 30 January, and runs until 2 February 2024 at Fira de Barcelona, Spain, while Llum BCN’24 will light up the streets of Barcelona from 2 – 4 February.
Llum BCN’24, an initiative of the Barcelona City Council and Institute of Culture of Barcelona, offers an immersive voyage into the worlds of contemporary art, technology, and cutting-edge lighting design.
Friday 2 February will see illuminated works of art by globally recognised artists light up the streets of Barcelona’s Poblenou neighbourhood, which includes the cutting-edge 22@ tech hub district. In addition, compelling projects from the top architecture and design schools in the city will be displayed on the canvas, resulting in an amazing tapestry of creativity and light.
Mike Blackman, managing director of Integrated Systems Events, says:
“We’re thrilled to collaborate once again with the extraordinary Llum BCN, a visual symphony showcasing the magical union of art and technology. It perfectly mirrors the theme of ISE 2024 – ‘Your Destination for Innovation’, offering attendees a mesmerising glimpse into the intersection of technology and artistic brilliance right here in Barcelona.”

Artistic creativity meets tech innovation
Esteve Caramés, head of the cultural programmes direction at the Barcelona City Council Institute of Culture adds:
“The LLUM BCN festival wants to be a meeting point between artistic creativity and technical and audio-visual innovation; ISE brings together the leading global industries in this sector, and for us, it is an opportunity to connect with the most innovative trends and learn from the latest technical possibilities at the service of talent and artistic creativity.”
The Llum BCN’24 festival features 46 light installations: 13 installations are the work of both domestic and international artists, 17 installations are from Barcelona’s university schools of architecture and design, 11 installations are from the Off Llum alternative circuit, and 5 installations are from other collaborations.
The highlight of the festival is a compelling performance titled “Patterns and Recognition: A Composition in Three Parts by United Visual Artists,” by the esteemed British studio United Visual Artists (UVA). Three ground-breaking installations—Silent Symphony, Vanishing Point, and Present Shock—are part of the exhibition, which was co-curated by José Luis de Vicente and Maria Güell.
To examine the conceptual frameworks and natural occurrences influencing our cognition, these installations skillfully combine new technologies with conventional mediums, such as sculpture and performance.
On Wednesday 31 January from 16:20 to 17:00, ISE will be bringing the festival from the city’s streets to the centre of the show floor at the ISE Show Floor Stage in Hall 4. An exclusive sneak peek at the festival’s installations, technology, light, and projections is provided by this free event, allowing attendees to explore the ideas that went into creating each installation and discover how creativity and innovation come together.
ISE is also sponsoring a projection mapping event at the iconic Gaudí building Casa Batlló by Sofia Crespo, who will deliver a keynote address at this year’s event.
