Mad Systems Inc., the award-winning audiovisual and interactive system designer and integrator, has revealed that it has once again worked with Gwinnett County at its Environmental and Heritage Center in Georgia, US. The firm has upgraded the technology which powers the attraction’s Blue Planet Theater.
The Blue Planet Theater presents a show within a central pool that is nine feet in diameter. Hidden under the water is an eight-foot-wide topographical map that utilises an underwater mechanism built by Mad Systems in 2006 – which is still in working order. This mechanism pushes the map up at 45 degrees so that projections can appear on the map and a water screen to teach visitors about water conservation.
However, at nearly 20 years old, the theatre needed an upgrade. Gwinnett County partnered with Cortina Productions for the media on this project, with Mad Systems returning to refresh the technology.
Integrated QuickSilver system
While most of the original show remained unchanged, Mad Systems enhanced the technology powering the show by removing all of the outdated equipment and adding a new integrated QuickSilver® system.
The new QuickSilver system makes it easy to change the media by Cortina Productions. It is accompanied by upgrades to the WiFi infrastructure and projectors, as well as a complete rebuild and reintegration of the water screen.
Maris Ensing, Mad Systems founder, comments: “QuickSilver’s flexibility continues to prove to be viable solutions, not just for new installs but reimagined ones as well. Through our collaboration with at Gwinnett County’s Environmental and Heritage Center, we have an immersive experience that engages, educates and inspires audiences of all ages.”
QuickSilver continues to grow and is being deployed across a wide range of venues. This is another successful installation of the technology, and builds on its reputation as an exceptional AV solution for the delivery of immersive experiences.
Mad Systems Inc. was recently awarded a patent for the pioneering streaming and AI-based technologies used within the Lory™ advanced Personalised Media Delivery System. The patent furthers Mad Systems’ mission to provide innovative technology in public spaces, particularly assistance for guests with hearing impairments.
