Universal’s US theme parks are introducing a new event to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter lands called ‘Butterbeer Season’.
Butterbeer Season begins for the first time ever today (15 March) and runs through 30 April at both Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida.
Per a press release, Butterbeer Season is a “new global franchise initiative to annually celebrate the flavor, scent and look of the iconic beverage fans will recognize from the magical wizarding world“.
As part of the celebration, Universal Studios Hollywood will open the new Florean Fortescue’s Ice-Cream counter on 29 March in Honeydukes.

Here, guests can enjoy 10 flavours of ice cream; Butterbeer, banana, chocolate, mint, orange, vanilla, toffee nuts, Granny Smith apple, pistachio, and toffee apple.
During Butterbeer Season, Universal’s theme parks will feature new treats, including a Butterbeer-flavoured popsicle. At Universal Orlando’s parks, there will be new Butterbeer caramels.
Of course, the usual cold, frozen, hot and non-dairy Butterbeer beverages will be available, as will Butterbeer fudge and potted cream.
Universal Orlando is home to two wizarding world-themed areas – Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida and Hogsmeade at Islands of Adventure.
New wizarding world experiences at Universal
The resort will soon include a new Ministry of Magic land at Epic Universe, Universal Orlando’s fourth gate. This will be based on 1920s Paris in the Fantastic Beasts film franchise and the British Ministry of Magic from the Harry Potter series.
In a conference call back in 2019, Comcast executives said: “In some of our parks, Harry Potter drives an incremental attendance of two million people.”
Universal Epic Universe is scheduled to open in 2025. The new theme park will house five themed lands with more than 50 attractions, entertainment experiences, and retail and F&B outlets.
