The Park Playground, a unique VR franchise, has established its inaugural fully-fledged franchised location in Porto, Portugal. The project marks the company’s ongoing dedication to providing entertainment-led social experiences that fulfil the expectations of contemporary visitors.
The firm’s entire library of immersive virtual reality experiences is available to visitors of all ages and interests on three free-roam fields within the new location. They include its latest VR games, the heist-themed The Break-in and the esports-inspired NanoClash Focus.
Expansion into western Europe
The Park Playground partnered with franchise owners and investors Sérgio Basto, José Carlos Marques, and Miguel Soro on the project, which is scheduled to launch on 14 June. The new attraction provides a unique selection of immersive virtual reality experiences to the area and responds to the rapidly increasing demand for more varied and entertainment-focused social experiences among audiences worldwide.
Basto, the venue’s lead investor, says: “We’re incredibly excited to be working with The Park Playground. Though this industry is a new area of investment for us, The Park’s success across Europe demonstrates the quality and long-lasting appeal of its immersive VR experiences. We’re confident that this kind of cutting-edge entertainment will incentivise global audiences and the broader Portuguese community to travel to Porto for a truly unique experience.”
The standalone venue is part of The Park Playground’s expansion into western Europe and beyond, building on the success of its venues in the UK and central Europe. The firm is closely collaborating with the local team to offer consistent and engaging experiences for visitors.
Bill Painter, head of franchise at the Park Playground, explains: “We’re committed to maximising return on investment for our partners and we’re delighted to welcome Sérgio, José and Miguel as part of our franchise network.
“Our investors have been invaluable in steering this project in the right direction, providing a wealth of knowledge of the local market and offering guidance on how to address their needs. This new expansion into western Europe further reinforces the emerging trend of communities increasingly seeking new forms of entertainment, with VR and technology poised to fill this gap in the market.”
The Park Playground’s new franchise facility in Porto offers the potential to attract new visitors, diversify offerings, and boost the local economy.
Earlier this year, The Park Playground launched ‘The Park VR Tournament’, a new customisable experience for team-building events and group visits.
