Limited capacity and shorter wait times are on offer

Universal Orlando will host its first-ever ‘Premium Scream Night’ event in August, allowing guests to experience Halloween Horror Nights before it officially opens.

Premium Scream Night will be held on 29 August. Visitors will be among the first to see this year’s haunted houses and scare zones. They will also enjoy limited capacity in the park and shorter wait times.

As always, Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando includes 10 haunted houses inspired by iconic horror brands and original stories, and five scare zones brimming with menacing creatures and live entertainment.

Guests at Premium Scream Night will have a more intimate experience. Via a press release, groups will enjoy staggered entry into the haunted houses “so everyone will fall prey to the scares lurking at every turn”.

There will also be unlimited F&B based on this season’s haunts and created by Universal’s culinary team, and guests will receive an exclusive certificate and lanyard, as well as access to select attractions at Universal Studios Florida.

Halloween Horror Nights begins at Universal Orlando on 30 August. The event runs on select nights through 3 November.

In more news, Universal is creating a year-round horror attraction inspired by Halloween Horror Nights at Area15 in Las Vegas. The new venue is Universal’s first permanent horror experience outside of its parks.

Growing trend for recreational fear

John Murdy, creative director of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood, spoke to blooloop last year about a growing trend for horror experiences.

He said: “It’s high thrills. We’ll just stand at the exit of one of our haunted houses and just watch what happens. It’s a great way to experience how your guests are enjoying the experience.

“You’ll see people come out and they’re screaming and then they immediately start laughing. To me, that’s the classic release of adrenaline.”

Tickets for Premium Scream Night are limited and go on sale on 6 June.
