Riders will travel across the park in gondola-style “party pods”

Legoland New York is opening its new attraction, Minifigure Skyflyer, later this month. To mark the occasion, the park is hosting what it hopes will be the world’s largest disco dance party.

Minifigure Skyflyer will debut at Legoland New York on 24 June. The ride offers a “party in the sky” experience, Merlin Entertainments said in a press release.

This means guests will travel across the park in gondola-style “party pods”. The party begins on the ground with an immersive queue offering disco music. Next, guests fly in one of seven themed party pods, as follows:

  • Pirate Shindig
  • Dinner Party
  • Party Animals
  • City
  • Disco Pod
  • Brick Party
  • Lego Galaxy

“There’s so much fun to be had at Legoland New York Resort, but it’s a sprawling park, so guests have been asking for easier ways to navigate between the park’s seven themed lands and we listened,” said Stephanie Johnson, divisional director of Legoland New York.

Minifigure Skyflyer provides an exciting solution that ignites creativity, sparks imagination and gives the best views of all the excitement happening at the park and the surrounding, picturesque Hudson Valley, all from the air.”

To celebrate the ride’s opening, Legoland New York is hoping to break the world record for the largest disco dance party. Guests are encouraged to wear glitter, sequins and other disco-themed clothing and accessories.

Legoland New York is home to seven themed lands offering rides and attractions like the Dragon Coaster, a Lego Ninjago ride, and the Lego Factory Adventure Ride.

Elsewhere, Legoland Windsor has opened its new Woodland Village, which is Merlin’s first carbon neutral accommodation. The UK park has also launched the first-ever checkout-free shop in a European theme park.

Earlier this year, Legoland Windsor opened its new Minifigure Speedway coaster.
