Trade unions representing cast members at Disneyland have reached a tentative contract agreement with Disney, meaning an immediate strike will not take place.
The Disney Workers Rising Bargaining Committee, a coalition of four unions, represents 14,000 workers across Disneyland Resort.
The committee announced the deal on Wednesday (24 July) after two days of bargaining with Disney’s contract negotiators, which came after union members voted 99 percent in favour of authorising a strike on Friday (19 July).
In a new statement, the Disney Workers Bargaining Committee said it will recommend the tentative agreement with Disney to cast members, who have “fought hard for the past four months”.

Cast members will get to vote on the agreement between 6.30am and 8pm on 29 July at Disneyland, with an exact location to be confirmed.
“We have shown Disney that we are the true magic makers of the park and today proves that when workers stand together for what they deserve, we win. We look forward to making our voices heard during the voting process to ratify this contract,” the committee added.
In a separate statement, Disneyland said it cares deeply “about the wellbeing of our cast members and are pleased to have reached a tentative agreement”.
The unions, which filed unfair labour practice charges against Disney in May, asked for fair wages, a fair attendance policy, seniority increases, and safe theme parks for staff and guests.
Strike at Disneyland avoided
The bargaining committee said it has “achieved our goals” with a three-year contract containing significant wage increases, seniority rises, and the retention of premiums.
“We also addressed issues that will make the attendance policy work better for cast members,” it said.
The negotiations over a new union contract started in April this year. The Disneyland contract expired on 16 June. The Disney California Adventure and Downtown Disney contracts expire on 30 September.
