Scenario indoor water park expansion at Studio City

Attraction is part of Studio City’s $1.3bn phase two expansion

Scenario, the award-winning design and fabrication firm, has revealed details of its work on the highly anticipated indoor water park expansion at Studio City in Macau, China.

The $1.3 billion phase two expansion also includes two luxury hotel towers – Epic Tower and W Macau – Studio City. It follows the award-winning phase one outdoor water park which opened in 2021.

Scenario served as a turnkey show contractor for the indoor water park phase two project. Its scope included concept refinement, facility and show design and build, show set fabrication, rockwork design, fabrication and installation, BIM integration, show control, show lighting and AV, and ride system integration.

Space-travel theme

The space-travel-themed indoor Melco Water Park includes retail, rides and F&B spaces. The total space of both outdoor and indoor is approximately 26,000 square meters. It features 16 attractions, including seven thrilling water slides, two wave pools, and a unique Oblivion Pool which extends into the outdoor space.

In addition, the comfortable climate-controlled space includes an intense water roller coaster, diving pool, and indoor surfing simulator. Guests can also enjoy the Starlight Rapids tube ride and Rockwall Fall, which offers a memorable combination of rock climbing and platform diving.

A spokesperson from the World Waterpark Association’s 2023 Leading Edge Awards comments: “The space travel themed attractions integrate seamlessly with the building interior, even cleverly extending outside the building envelope, matching the look and feel of the theme and architecture.”

Scenario recently attended IAAPA Expo Asia, which took place from 28 to 30 May 2024 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok, Thailand. The firm held a party for partners and friends at the Novotel with Park Associates.

Last year, Scenario announced that Scenario Asia had entered a strategic partnership agreement with Mint. This agreement enables the firms to pursue Saudi-based megaprojects. Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 plan includes an aim to develop some of the world’s most innovative and spectacular IP entertainment venues.
