Jora Vision Bommelwereld press conference

Jora Vision, a leading design and production company, has hosted a press conference at IAAPA Expo Europe to share details of the Bommelwereld theme park in Groenlo, Netherlands.

This brand-new, highly-themed indoor theme park is slated to open in 2025. A collaboration between Jora Vision and Marveld Recreatie, it will span approximately 9,000 square meters and is expected to welcome 100,000 visitors per year.

Bommelwereld, which translates as The world of Bommel, will be based on the beloved characters Tom Poes and Ollie B. Bommel (Tom Puss and Oliver B. Bumble), created by Maarten Toonder. Its centrepiece is set to be the 23-metre-tall Castle Bommelstein. This will be home to more than 20 attractions.

Intricate theming & extensive range of attractions

The press conference was held at the firm’s booth, #12416, on Tuesday 24 September. This offered a first glimpse of the park with a virtual tour which flew through the entrance, theatre, garden area, harbour, funhouse, and more. It also included a look at the intricately themed indoor decorations and attractions within Castle Bommelstein.

Exclusive insights were given into Bommelwereld’s rides and attractions. Among these will be an interactive climbing tower from Sunkid reaching over 9 metres tall, a double-decker Venetian carousel, and a 9-metre-high super slide with 4 lanes within its 32-metre-long chute.

Rides are set to include ‘Bulder Baan’, a Vekoma Family Coaster, ‘De Dolle Albatros’, a Zamperla Rockin’ Tug, ‘Razende Rommel’, a mini flume from ABC Rides, and many more.

Peter van der Schans, executive director and vice president of IAAPA EMEA, says:

“We are very excited that our visitors will have the chance to discover more about the new Dutch park during the expo. The Netherlands is one of the countries with the very highest density of theme parks, amusement parks and festivals. It is rare for an entirely new amusement park to be built. We are therefore proud that they choose IAAPA Expo Europe to showcase their park for the first time.”

Sjors van Roosmalen, creative director at Jora Vision, adds:

“Especially in the Netherlands, it is special for a theme park to be built from scratch. It is therefore extra fun to show how we went from the drawing board to a themed setting and to reveal the extraordinary line-up of attractions. This exclusive preview is the perfect chance to experience Bumblebee World before anyone else does.”

Earlier this week, Jora Vision revealed further details of the groundbreaking dark ride, ‘The Enchanted Greenhouse’, with Six Flags Qiddiya City, ETF Ride Systems and Alterface.
