Semmel Exhibitions, a creator of award-winning blockbuster exhibitions, is celebrating the success of the 2024 edition of The Experience Economy Meeting (TEM) at ABC Serrano in Madrid.

The two-day conference, which is a collaboration between Semmel Exhibitions, Exhibition Hub, and Fever, gathered 105 leading professionals from the experiential, exhibition, and museum spaces.

The event returned for 2024 following a five-year hiatus and facilitated impactful in-person discussions about the most recent innovations and possibilities in the experience economy.

The last iteration of TEM took place in Berlin in 2019. The revival of the event is a tribute to the late Mario Iacampo, founder and CEO of Exhibition Hub, and honours his legacy of relentless innovation, equality, and ambition. With the return of this event, the three partners aim to continue Iacampo’s groundbreaking work in the experiential sector.

Supporting the experiential community

The 2024 conference offered panels with speakers such as Erika Lust, Erika Lust Films, Lars Hinrichs, UBS Digital Art Museum, and Charles Read, blooloop. The marketing session, hosted by Finn Regenhold, Semmel Concerts, and Jessica Bush, Fever, explored how platforms like TikTok and Meta impact audience participation and fan culture.

Industry specialists Matt Wiener, Jett Capital, and Marc Bruix, FC Barcelona, led a discussion on The Painful Venue Business, which discussed difficulties and solutions for venue operations and collaborations. Furthermore, Semmel Exhibitions’ Christoph Scholz and CTS Eventim’s Susan Gloy-Kruse explored audience engagement and their shifting expectations for experiential environments.

Exclusive evening networking events, including a candlelight concert, provided participants with further opportunities to connect. The event ended with a memorable cocktail celebration with exclusive access to exhibitions including Harry Potter: The Exhibition and Squid Game: The Experience.

“TEM’s 2024 edition succeeded in reviving its mission: fostering a collaborative space for stakeholders in the experiential economy,” says a spokesperson from Semmel Exhibitions.

“After a five-year hiatus, TEM returned with renewed vigor, responding to the the surging demand for live and location-based experiences post-pandemic. It has set the stage for future innovations and partnerships, emphasizing the importance of community in the ever-evolving experience sector.”

Semmel Exhibitions recently celebrated the world premiere of Marvel: Earth’s Mightiest Exhibition, at Tākina, Wellington Convention and Exhibition Centre in New Zealand.
