Retail conglomerate Majid Al Futtaim has announced an AED 5 billion ($1.3bn) transformation of Mall of the Emirates into a next-generation lifestyle destination.
In a statement, Majid Al Futtaim said it plans to transform the shopping mall into an experience-led, multi-sensory destination for retail, dining and culture.
The company has already allocated AED 1.1 billion ($300 million) to new additions such as a luxury wellness club, an immersive cultural hub, a new dining precinct, and cutting-edge entertainment concepts.
New entertainment offerings at Mall of the Emirates
Khalifa Bin Braik, chief executive officer of Majid Al Futtaim’s asset management division, said: “Two decades ago, Mall of the Emirates set a new benchmark for retail and entertainment in the region.
“Today, we’re building on that legacy with a bold investment that redefines what a mall can be.
“This transformation goes beyond physical expansion — it’s about creating new ways for people to connect, unwind, and be inspired, all in one destination.”
By late 2026, Mall of the Emirates will include four new entertainment offerings, as well as the world’s most advanced IMAX experience at Vox Cinemas.

Among these new experiences is the New Covent Garden cultural hub with a 600-seat theatre, set to open this year.
“By introducing world-class wellness, cultural and dining experiences, we’re enhancing quality of life and supporting Dubai’s vision as a global city — all while remaining committed to innovation and sustainability at every step,” Bin Braik said.
Also part of the project is the addition of 20,000 square metres of new retail space.
Sustainability is at the core of the transformation, with Majid Al Futtaim set to utilise energy-efficient technologies, smart systems and eco-conscious design.
