Epic Universe is one of the most immersive and innovative theme parks ever created

Epic Universe, a $7 billion theme park destination at Universal Orlando in Florida, has opened to the public after more than six years of work.

To celebrate the new park’s debut, Universal Orlando put on a special nighttime event on 21 May, introduced by Universal Destinations & Experiences CEO Mark Woodbury.

“Epic Universe represents over eight years of meticulous planning, immense creativity and innovation, combined with unmatched craftsmanship and operational excellence,” said Woodbury.

“Your love of Universal and the deep connections we’ve shared together here in Orlando over the past 30 years inspired us to dream bigger and to push the boundaries to create something extraordinary for you and for generations of fans and families to come.”

One of the most immersive and innovative theme parks ever created, Epic Universe offers rides and attractions, exhilarating entertainment, and themed dining and retail across five worlds, as follows:

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, Super Nintendo World, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, Dark Universe and Celestial Park.

Universal’s most innovative park to date

Epic Universe also includes three new hotels for Universal Orlando – the Universal Helios Grand Hotel, Universal Stella Nova Resort, and Universal Terra Luna Resort. All three are already open.

Epic Universe soft opened to the public late last month, with previews available until 19 May. The park closed to the public on 20 and 21 May for a media event.

“As we open this park, we hope your world becomes a little more epic,” said Woodbury.

Comcast recently released a report detailing the positive economic impact of Universal Orlando and the additional benefit that Epic Universe will have.

Universal’s direct investment in the park has resulted in $11bn of economic impact across the US, and in its first year of operation, the attraction is expected to generate $2bn for the state of Florida.
