Hollywood Drift is the park’s first high-speed outdoor coaster

Universal Studios Hollywood is teasing its new Fast & Furious roller coaster, which will be the fastest in the Universal portfolio with speeds of up to 72 mph.

Launching in 2026 at Universal’s California park, Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will also be the park’s first-ever high-speed outdoor coaster.

Construction continues on the ambitious coaster, which boasts a state-of-the-art ride system and will immerse guests in Universal Pictures’ Fast & Furious franchise.

On Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, guests will experience fully rotational ride vehicles as they race along 4,100 feet of elaborate track built with sound reduction technology.

Designed to look like iconic cars from the films, the 360-degree rotating ride vehicles will provide the sensation of drifting cars as guests travel across an aerial track.

“Watching the progress of this incredible roller coaster come to life is truly spectacular,” said Scott Strobl, executive vice president and general manager, Universal Studios Hollywood.

“2026 is just around the corner and we are equally as excited as our guests to introduce such an inspiring new ride to our theme park portfolio.

“Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will be a powerful game changer for Universal Studios Hollywood that will not only transform the topography of our destination but will infuse an entirely new level of adrenaline to our already dynamic theme park.”

He added, “We look forward to riding it ourselves and to welcoming guests to experience it in the very near future.”

Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is located on the Upper Lot of Universal Studios Hollywood, with the queue experience situated within a garage-like structure.

With 11 films, Fast & Furious has earned more than $7 billion at the worldwide box office, making it Universal Pictures’ most profitable and longest running franchise.

Earlier this year, Universal Studios Hollywood closed the Fast & Furious – Supercharged attraction on its Studio Tour.
