ProSlide Technology Inc., an industry leader in water ride manufacturing and design, has introduced the world’s first HIVE 20 water ride at Zoombezi Bay, Ohio. Located at Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, the attraction is one of the most popular water parks in the Midwestern US.

The HIVE 20 combines advanced ride design with mission-driven storytelling and serves as the anchor for the park’s new Conservation Tower expansion, which opened to the public on 20 June.

Strengthening a 17-year partnership

Conservation Tower has been created through a 17-year collaboration between the two organisations and includes three immersive attractions powered by ProSlide. All are inspired by conservation and environmental impact themes.

Its showpiece is The Hive, the global first pair of HIVE 20 features. In a memorable ride experience, guests are propelled through high-speed, high-G helix turns with stunning panoramic views.

Anthony Sabo, vice president, Zoombezi Bay and Guest Services, says: “Conservation Tower is full of firsts – from the world’s first installations of the HIVE 20 and Captina Falls, a RallyRACER with FlyingSAUCER 8 elements, to the conservation theme that supports the mission of our organization.

“We could not be prouder to work with our great partners at ProSlide and debut these amazing attractions.”

Jeff Janovich, senior vice president of Global Strategic Partnerships at ProSlide, says: “For nearly two decades, Zoombezi Bay has been a phenomenal partner in pushing the boundaries of guest experience.

“With Conservation Tower, they’ve raised the bar for how storytelling and conservation can transform a water park into something truly meaningful. We’re proud to continue innovating alongside them.”

Key features of the Conservation Tower include:

  • The Hive. Two HIVE 20 features that takes riders on a thrilling 360 degree journey through high-G spirals, which echo the movement and energy of a beehive.
  • Mussel Mayhem. With a Midwest-first TornadoWAVE 12 / TORNADO 18 SwitchBACK combination, the ride provides a twisting tribute to freshwater mussel conservation.
  • Captina Falls. The debut of the Matting RallyRACER with FlyingSAUCER 8, which delivers excitement in a rapid, side-by-side mat racer format.

ProSlide has been a creative and technical partner to Zoombezi Bay since the water park launched in 2008, and has provided distinctive attractions such as the TORNADO 60, CannonBOWL, and ProRACER.

Conservation Tower signifies a new landmark in this 17-year collaboration, seamlessly bringing together acclaimed ride design with immersive environmental storytelling to deliver a unique purpose-driven visitor experience.

Last month, ProSlide celebrated the opening of Tornado King at Water World Lloret de Mar, Spain. As the first Double TornadoWAVE 60 in Europe, the attraction reflects a major investment in high-thrill, high-capacity water ride technology at the beloved water park, which is now in its 40th season.
