Vortex, industry leader in aquatic playground and urban landscape solutions, helps Flower Mound’s Community Activity Centre expand their outdoor waterpark.

Flower Mound, located in North Texas, is a family orientated community that strives to balance a small town feel with dynamic economic development. The town’s Community Activity Centre includes an outdoor waterpark with zero-depth activity pool, 3 tot slides, interactive water features, an Elevations™ structure, shade structures, three 25-yard lanes, lazy river, vortex, 60 gallon dumping bucket, 2 large waterslides and concession stand. It also features a 16, 000 sq ft indoor aquatic center and covers over 200 acres of recreational area.
Initially installed in 2008, Vortex’s Elevations™ Aquatic Play Structure has been expanded. The original configuration featured colorful SeeFlow translucent polymer, slides and cannons. Thanks to Vortex’s Safeswap™ anchoring system, the aquatic designers were able to easily outline the infrastructure for future expansion, and the pool builders ran the necessary piping during construction. This meant that it was simple to add several more decks and a large Super Splash dumping bucket to expand the popular facility.
Recreation Superintendent, Chuck Jennings says, “When our patrons first enter the outdoor waterpark, they are impressed by the colorful and interactive Vortex play structure. Children can’t wait to climb in and explore the different features that await them. Our play structure is nicely complimented by the colorful Vortex dumping bells. Our pool contractor was impressed by how easy the unit was to put together”
Since opening Flower Mound’s Community Activity Center membership has consistently increased with over 220, 000 visitors in 2011.
