Alcorn McBride, leading providers of show control, audio and video equipment for the themed entertainment industry, has announced the appointment of Justin Ruka to the role of Support Technologist.
Ruka joined the company last autumn as an intern following a meeting with Alcorn McBride’s Director of Sales, Scott Harkless, at an event run by the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA). The TEA is an international, non-profit organisation representing some of the world’s leading designers, creators and developers. Ruka was a member of their NextGen programme which helps students and new graduates break into the industry.
Harkless describes Justin Ruka as “the perfect combination of personality and talent, making him an ideal match for our unique company culture. We are grateful to the TEA for making this connection and expect him to be a big asset to our team.”
After graduating in 2013, Ruka worked in a variety of roles at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando before his internship at Alcorn McBride. His new appointment follows a number of hirings by the rapidly expanding company which prides itself on the durable, zero maintenance design of its products.
Ruka, who describes himself as a creative technologist and futurist, says, “After graduation, I had hopes of making my way into a creative, technology-oriented role in the themed entertainment industry. I’ve had the opportunity to work in one of the most visited entertainment destinations in the world, Walt Disney World Resort. Now, I’m proud to have joined the wonderful and talented team at Alcorn McBride.”
