Flight School Studio, the storytelling studio specialising in emerging technologies, has brought a unique, COVID-safe meet Santa experience to Greater Houston’s Sugar Land Town Square.

Flight School Studio is helping residents of Greater Houston to interact with Santa like never before, thanks to its new experience at Sugar Land Town Square, a 1.4 million-square-foot mixed-use district. The installation, called “Santa’s MAGI-SPHERE”, allows visitors to meet Santa through a holographic snow globe, inside a giant wrapped present.

The MAGI-SPHERE enables Santa to project his 3D presence in real-time, so he can meet guests and listen to their Christmas wishes while keeping a safe distance.

As he speaks to them, Flight School’s solution maps his face to the animated Santa that they can see in the snow globe, for a seamless conversation between them.

“This is truly a unique and remarkable way to interact with Santa, and I know families will remember it for years to come,” says Brandon Oldenburg, Chief Creative Officer of Flight School Studio. “The use of emerging technology allows us to make storytelling and experiences much more extraordinary. This is especially impactful when re-inventing such a longstanding holiday tradition.”

New storytelling experiences

This gives guests a glimpse of the kind of entertainment they can expect when Flight School opens a new experience at Sugar Land Town Square in 2021.

The venue is around 9,000 square foot and will be home to an immersive and interactive adventure that combines physical sets with digital technologies like projection mapping, augmented reality, 3D animation, haptics, motion tracking, lighting, and sound.  The attraction will be the key draw at the multi-phase remodel of the central business district.

“Sugar Land is home to many of Houston’s forward-thinking business, medical, and technology innovators, which, we believe makes Sugar Land Town Square the perfect platform for introducing remarkable storytelling experiences,” says Kyle Clark, CEO of Flight School Studio.

“We can’t wait to show the world more of what we have in store, while also putting our home state of Texas and the Houston area at the forefront of both mixed reality and how the retail environment is being reimagined for the future.”

Flight School’s creative team has worked on projects that have been recognised at the Academy, Emmy, Annie, Cannes Lion, and Lumiere Awards. Its interactive experiences have entertained fans at world-famous events such as the Super Bowl, NBA All-Star Game, and the US Open.

Last year, the studio collaborated with Poo-Pourri, the original before-you-go toilet spray, on a unique immersive experience, designed to help people let go of toxic thoughts.
