Meliá Hotels International, a leading Spanish hotel group, has signed an agreement to bring two new luxury hotels to Vega City, Nha Trang, Vietnam.

Meliá Hotels International will be bringing the Gran Meliá Nha Trang and Meliá Nha Trang to Vega City in Nha Trang in 2023, as it continues to expand its Vietnam portfolio. The two new locations will combine Spanish influences with a luxury leisure experience and are owned by KDI Holdings.

The Gran Meliá Nha Trang and Meliá Nha Trang will expand the group’s footprint in Vietnam to 15 properties and will be designed around Gran Meliá Hotels & Resorts’ brand purpose of ‘dedication of a life well lived’ and Meliá Hotels & Resorts brand’s essence of ‘Soul of Things.’

New luxury experiences in Vietnam

Vega City is an integrated resort complex on the coast of Nha Trang, capital of Khánh Hòa Province on the country’s south coast. Here, visitors can enjoy easy access to beaches as well as water activities such as scuba diving.

Gran Meliá Nha Trang will have 96 beach-front villas while Meliá Nha Trang will be home to 370 rooms. The properties will also feature dining options, as well as wellness and leisure services such as spas and swimming pools. They will also be well-located for local attractions, such as the Ponagar Tower, Long Son Pagoda, Nha Trang Beach, and Bo Ho Waterwall.

“It is our first time collaborating with KDI Holdings,” says Bernardo Cabot, the Regional Vice President of Meliá Hotels International Asia Pacific. “With the signing of Gran Meliá Nha Trang and Meliá Nha Trang, we are excited to bring another two Meliá Hotels International properties in the region, further enhancing the importance of Vietnam in APAC for the group.

“This presents an excellent opportunity for us to introduce our Gran Meliá and Meliá brands, providing a mix of brand offerings to cater to the influx in travellers and their various needs – from globally-minded luxury travellers seeking the pinnacle of Spanish style & culture, to those who enjoy an infusion of Spanish warmth, closeness and passion for hospitality.”

A fast-growing market

‘Vietnam is one of the fastest-growing markets and is the world’s leading heritage destination,” says Do Tuan Anh, the Chief Executive Officer of KDI Holdings. “We believe that the future of real estate development stems from creating values beyond design and construction – it is about taking that bigger step of innovation to create a sustainable landmark for the city and for future generations to experience.

“With this vision, KDI Holdings is delighted to introduce Vega City Nha Trang, the prime destination for international hospitality, arts and entertainment. In cooperation with Melia Hotels International, we aim to deliver a customized hospitality experience for all guest visiting Nha Trang.”

Meliá Hotels International plans to open 50 new hotels across China, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and Indonesia by the end of 2021.

Elsewhere in the country, construction work is underway on Vingroup’s $1 billion VinWonders Vu Yen, which will be Vietnam’s largest theme park. The 50-hectare development is part of the Vu Yen Island Entertainment, Housing and Eco-Park Project.
