US sports brand Wilson has created a pop up museum that will spend 2018 touring the country. It is scheduled to stop at football, basketball and volleyball events including the NFL Draft and NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame Weekend.

The Wilson Experience, created with the help of experiential marketing agency OutCold, is set in a refurbished Airstream trailer and showcases how the company creates its handcrafted leather game footballs. Wilson has supplied official game footballs to the NFL since 1941.

The pop up museum inside the 16-foot Airstream trailer made its first appearance at the College Football Playoff in Atlanta, giving fans a chance to experience the influence of Wilson in American Football.

In designing The Wilson Experience, OutCold utilised the same materials that Wilson uses to create every game football in its factory located in Ada, Ohio, including pebbled white laces and brown leather from Horween Leather Company in Chicago.

Amanda Lamb, Global Marketing Director at Wilson told Campaign: “The Wilson Experience offers fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse into how our craftsmen and craftswomen in Ada, Ohio, hand-make nearly 700,000 leather game footballs every year.

“We wanted to find a clever and engaging way to bring our football factory to life at marquee football events so that fans could better understand how footballs are made and take a special piece of that experience home with them.”
