Blanco y Negro Fairy Tales

Blanco y Negro, a producer and distributor of pioneering immersive and virtual reality experiences, is celebrating the launch of new virtual reality (VR) experience, Fairy Tales, at Kursaal Oostende in Belgium.

Fairy Tales is a partnership between Blanco y Negro and Univrse, an acclaimed VR specialist, and transports visitors of all ages to a magical fairy tale realm.

Its official opening took place on 2 July and was attended by Tourism Alderman, actress Danni Heylen, who voices Fairy Tales’ grandmother character, and pop star Camille. Feedback from the initial visitors was resoundingly positive.

The experience is open at Kursaal Oostende daily until 31 August.

Participatory experience

Fairy Tales is a unique experience for kids and adults, which uses VR headsets to immerse visitors in the magical worlds of classic, much-loved stories such as Aladdin, Pinocchio, and The Little Mermaid.

Heylen lends her voice to the storytelling grandmother, who gently guides visitors through the experience.

“It’s pure magic – you feel like reliving your childhood again,” she says. “As an adult, it’s just as exciting and meaningful. You really have to experience this with your family – and more than once, because there’s so much to take in!”

The opening was also attended by Camille, who is bringing her show, Circus Camille, to Ostend for three weeks during the summer. Her presence highlighted Ostend’s position as a coastal cultural hub for the season.

“Wow, I’m genuinely amazed – every part of the experience was so beautiful! What I love about it is that you don’t experience this alone, but together,” says Camille. “It’s such a fun, shared experience, I didn’t know where to look first!”

The interactive exhibition brings to life timeless tales, and places visitors into the story. Guests use a VR headset to actively take part in the adventure, from flying on a magic carpet to bravely facing a dragon, and more.

The experience is organised locally by Kursaal Oostende in partnership with Gracia Live and Up Next.

Recently, Blanco y Negro shared information on licensing the Tomorrowland Immersive Experience, which is now available to venues worldwide.
