EPIC Entertainment Group, a producer of themed entertainment, live events, and immersive environments, worked alongside Innov8ive Exhibitions and in collaboration with Crayola on a unique immersive and interactive experience, set to open in Charlotte, North Carolina, on 13 May.
Crayola IDEAworks first opened at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia and is now heading to Camp North End in Charlotte for a limited run. This will be the second stop on the exhibition’s worldwide tour.
EPIC Entertainment Group, which has global experience in bringing creative concepts to life, is responsible for presenting and operating Crayola IDEAworks at Camp North End.
Unlocking creative skills
The colourful interactive attraction, which covers 17,000 square feet, invites visitors to explore their creative side and presents a personalised adventure for the whole family. It features over 100 physical and digital interactive experiences and challenges, with photo opportunities, colouring, drawing tables and more.
During the experience, guests are guided by fun Crayola Craymojis which are designed to represent different creative styles. They can also track their progress around the attraction through RFID wristbands, meaning they leave with a customised summary of their creative strengths.
“Crayola IDEAworks aims to inspire guests of all ages to expand creative-thinking skills and sharpen their unique talents through a multitude of exciting and imaginative activities,” says Charity Hill, partner, EPIC Entertainment Group.
“It’s an amusing space for kids to develop creative confidence, problem-solve, practice self-expression, play games, and just have fun. There are so many great features and interactive experiences, but I’d have to say the “Craymojis” are my personal favorite.”

A colour-filled journey
There are three areas to explore:
- IDEA Workshop – when they begin their journey, visitors can enjoy challenges, questions, and puzzles which bring out their creative minds and sharpen their design-driven skills.
- The Colorverse – a visit to the city of Crayopolis, the galactic Mars Station, and the underwater SeaBase!
- Grand Finale – at the end of the experience, guests simply scan their RFID bracelet to find out what their creative style is, as well as the Craymoji that they are best aligned with.

Earlier this year, EPIC Entertainment Group announced an expansion of its ongoing partnership with Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Florida. Following its work managing the “Festival of Chocolate”, EPIC Entertainment will now manage and produce this year’s entertainment program at the Miami attraction.
