Panasonic Connect, a leading audiovisual technology provider, has provided cutting-edge DLP laser projection technology for an innovative installation at The Ephesus Experience Museum in Selçuk, Turkey.
The new, sustainable museum can be found in the pine forest at the Ephesus archaeological site, and features an immersive installation that transports visitors to the ancient trading city. 123 Panasonic DLP laser projectors have been used in the delivery of this multi-sensory experience.
Award-winning museum
Ancient Ephesus, a UNESCO World Heritage site, was a major trading hub in the Mediterranean region. The Ephesus Experience Museum is owned by the Republic of Turkey’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism and developed and operated by DEM Museums to enrich the guest experience at the archaeological site.
The Ephesus Experience Museum launched in August 2023 and has already earned international recognition and acclaim. Earlier this year, it was honoured in the Best Museum category at the US Mondo-Dr Awards, which recognise significant projects in the global exhibition and hospitality industry.
The attraction provides visitors with a detailed history of Ephesus, from its founding to its pinnacle as a key metropolitan centre. They are guided through three unique rooms by a storyteller in 17 languages and can experience the historic city through sophisticated audio-visual technology.
360-degree projections, 3D soundscapes, and atmospheric effects such as fog and scents are among the museum’s multisensory components, which work together to offer a vibrant, entertaining, and informative experience.
Exceptional image quality
To bring Ephesus’ fascinating past to life, the museum employs 123 Panasonic DLP laser projectors renowned for their dependability, outstanding colour quality, and high brightness. This technology delivers the superior image quality required for the Ephesus Experience Museum’s realistic and immersive visual storytelling.
The projectors’ straightforward operation and durable design, which includes failover technology, offers minimum maintenance and reliable performance. A range of Panasonic lenses, including Ultra Short Throw lenses, enables flexible installation and great image quality with no shadows, to maintain the visitor experience.
90 Panasonic DLP projectors were used in a single, highly popular display. Together with an advanced speaker system, the projectors help to recreate a historic earthquake, providing visitors with a dramatic and unforgettable peek into the past.
Eda Bildiricioglu, CEO of DEM Museums, says: “The Panasonic projectors have been fundamental in achieving our vision of an immersive historical experience. Their reliability and quality have allowed us to bring the story of Ephesus to life in a way that captivates and educates our visitors.”
The project lasted 26 months and included up to 150 professionals from across the globe. Panasonic Connect Europe collaborated with Astel Profesyonel Goruntu Sistemleri A.S., a distributor and system integrator, to create a world-class museum experience. The content was created by Marshmallow Laser Feast, with exhibition design by Atelier Brückner.
Recently, Panasonic Connect revealed that its projection system was chosen to power the largest permanent projection mapping display on the planet.
