Alterface Granted US Patent for Innovative Dark Ride Shooting Technology

News

Leading creator of interactive dark rides and attractions, Alterface, has been granted a US patent for its innovative shooting technology known as ‘multi-user pointing apparatus and method’.

The company secured the European patent in 2006 but had to jump through more hoops to satisfy the US authorities.

CEO and Founder, Benoit ‘Ben’ Cornet, described the news as ‘the cherry on the cake’ of a highly successful year.

“While there are many “patent pending” products in our industry, the ones that make it to the “real” patent stage are scarce as it requires thorough innovative work, ” he said.

The company’s technologies are currently driving attractions across the world including Justice League, Battle for Metropolis at Six Flags, Plants vs Zombies interactive theatre at Carowinds and Benno’s Great Race at Ferrari World in Dubai. 16 installations have also recently been completed at LEGO Discovery Centres across the US.

“The patents we are receiving, alongside awards like the recent one for Justice League, are a great recognition of our team’s daily and on-going efforts, ” added Stéphane Battaille, Chief Operations Officer at Alterface.

Visitors to the Euro Attractions Show in Barcelona can discover more about the Alterface solutions for interactive rides, spinning & duelling theatres and walkthrough attractions at Booth #842.
