Leading audio and visual technologies company, Christie Digital, has announced that it is extending its exclusive collaboration agreement with Director James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment.
The two companies originally signed a partnership deal for five years.
Christie will continue to provide knowledge sharing, equipment and services while Lightstorm will share its insights into 3D, HFR and high-dynamic range (HDR), formatting and colour space requirements.
The intention is to build the cinema experiences of tomorrow.
Christie is set to equip Lightstorm with a range of current and planned projection systems including the new high efficiency RGB laser projection series currently under development.
“Just as we push innovation with our productions, Christie is continually pushing innovation with their projection technology, epitomised by the co-development of the Dolby Vision projection solution with Dolby,” observes Jon Landau, the Academy Award-winning producer of Avatar and Titanic, and Producer/COO/Partner at Lightstorm.
By continuing in their collaboration, the two industry innovators hope to create even better experiences for audiences.
According to Cameron, the endeavour “needs visionary, like-minded collaborators – and that description fits Christie to a tee.”
